Moto Morini has officially entered the large-capacity adventure motorcycle segment with the new X-Cape 1200 V-twin, now reaching UK dealerships with a starting price of £11,599 on the road.
Originally previewed in early 2023, the new 1187cc adventure machine is finally becoming available across the UK through Lancashire-based distributor Moto73 Ltd, a company connected to MotoGB.
Positioned as a more affordable alternative to premium rivals, the X-Cape 1200 undercuts bikes like the BMW R1300GS by more than £5,000, making it an attractive option for riders looking for a capable adventure bike without the premium price tag.
At the heart of the motorcycle is an 1187cc 87-degree V-twin engine delivering a claimed 127.4bhp at 8,750rpm and 78.2lb.ft of torque at 7,000rpm. The updated Euro5+ compliant engine evolves from previous Moto Morini powerplants seen in models such as the Milano and Corsaro.
Despite its strong performance figures, the bike carries a substantial 259kg dry weight, placing it above some competitors in the category. To improve the riding experience, Moto Morini includes a standard up/down quickshifter alongside a slipper clutch for smoother downshifts.
Technology features are generous for the price point. Riders get three riding modes through a 7-inch TFT display, cornering ABS with off-road deactivation, traction control with three settings, tyre pressure monitoring, cruise control, blind-spot monitoring via rear radar, and collision warning assistance. Heated grips and full LED lighting also come standard.
The chassis combines aluminium and steel construction with an aluminium swingarm, while KYB suspension components handle damping duties front and rear. Fully adjustable 48mm upside-down forks and a rear shock both offer 180mm of travel, supported by 190mm of ground clearance and an accessible 840mm seat height.
Adventure capability is enhanced by a 19-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel, both wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion Trail 3 tyres. Braking is managed by dual 320mm front discs and a 280mm rear disc.
Additional accessories include heated seats, an adjustable windscreen, a centre stand, and even a built-in 1080p dashcam. Buyers can also add a three-piece luggage set for £499.
Although Moto Morini is a historic Italian motorcycle brand, the company has been owned by China’s Zhongneng Vehicle Group since 2018.
