Custom motorcycle specialists Thornton Hundred have built a one-off Triumph Bobber that recently set two land speed records on the famous Pendine Sands in Wales.
Ridden by company founder Jody Millhouse, the heavily modified machine reached 132.28mph over the half-mile and 106.98mph in the quarter-mile, securing two class records for naturally aspirated bikes under 1350cc. Despite hopes of completing a full-mile run, soft sand conditions prevented longer attempts.
Built using a Triumph Bobber frame sourced from the United States, the project combined spare workshop parts with extensive performance upgrades. Engine output was boosted to around 130bhp thanks to high-compression pistons, upgraded camshafts, a custom ECU setup, and reinforced clutch components.
The team also removed more than 50kg from the bike using lightweight carbon fibre wheels and a handcrafted stainless-steel exhaust fitted with Akrapovič titanium silencers. Aerodynamics played a key role too, with custom 3D-printed bodywork including a half fairing, aero mudguard, and tail section.
Known for creating radical custom motorcycles, Thornton Hundred continues to push boundaries with builds that blend performance, engineering, and standout design — and this record-breaking Bobber is no exception.
